SOME HELPFUL HINTS TO SUCCESSFUL EBAY BUYING AND SELLING

  1. Open a PayPal account

PayPal is a fast, reliable tool for buying and selling.  They have great customer service and are totally dependable.  They pay over 5% interest on your balance (you have to ask for it to be setup).  It’s easy to pass money back and forth to your bank account and it is totally free.  If you are a seller, you will pay a fee when your customers send you money.  EBay and PayPal are linked so it’s easy to get paid and to pay for items on EBay.

2. Know your product

Obviously, if you are selling, you must have available information about your product.  Customers ask lots of questions.  It’s easier to have all the pertinate information in your listing.

3. Check out your competitors’ prices, shipping costs, sales tax info, etc.

It’s helpful to look at the completed sales to see what the item actually sold for.  Sometimes the asking price is way out there.

 4. Check out feedbacks of sellers and beware of sellers with doubtful feedbacks.

Sometimes feedbacks are not due to a problem with the seller. The feedback
verbiage will help you determine that in some cases.

 5. Compare selling prices of items you are thinking about bidding on.

There usually is a range of prices for the same item.

 6. Carefully read the listing for shipment costs, time of shipping, sales tax, etc. before you bid.

You don’t want any surprises!!!

7. Take good quality photos!!

Remember a photo is worth a thousand words!!!

   8. Ask friends if they would recommend a seller for what you are wanting.

  9. Write clear, simple & concise verbiage on your listing.

10. Use Turbo Lister.

It’s easy, free and you can write your listings and then upload them when you
choose without any extra charge.   It’s the no pressure way to list!!!

11. Give feedback in a timely manner.

You will usually be given feedback quickly in return.

12. Communicate with your buyers

Customers appreciate hearing that you received their payment and then they also like knowing when you will be shipping the item.  Try to ship as quickly as you can.  It’s also a great idea to ship with “Delivery Confirmation” so that you know if the item was received and when.

13. Join an EBay forum

Ask questions.

14. I highly recommend Marsha Collier’s monthly newsletters, “Cool EBay Tools”.

There will be hints, tools and links that are very helpful.

15. Try to get Marsha Collier’s book, “EBay Business for Dummies”.

Try Amazon.com and look in their used book store.

16. Before selling, do some buying to build up some positive feedbacks for yourself.

17. You can print labels yourself and save waiting at the post office.

You save on “Delivery Confirmation” too.
